‘Saying Grace,’ ‘Giving Thanks’ or ‘Blessing the Food’ doesn’t have to be a long, drawn-out prayer, but it shouldn’t be a ‘canned’ prayer either. This is a chance for you to convey your appreciation to the Creator of the Universe for the sustenance you are about to put into your body – a lot of people don’t have that, but still find a way/reason to give thanks to God for what they have.

The early church members would gather nightly for meals (Love Feasts, I believe is what they called them) in which they would remember Christ’s sacrifice (what we would call Communion, but with food and wine instead of juice and crackers).
