I have to say that I am more than a little peeved about all the posts that essentially blame God for all of their problems, but do so under the guise of having faith in Him… “If God brought you to it, He will get you through it.” Clever. But what about the choices you make that bring you to it?
It’s true, God often challenges us and has us step out of our comfort zones so we can grow and do what we were created for, but (usually) you still have to choose to follow Him there. Do yourself a favor: Don’t accuse God of causing every trial in your life. If you can’t man- or woman-up and admit it is at least partially your fault, you have a pride problem – the Bible has a lot to say about that, too!
“God won’t give you more than you can handle,” is total BS, too. Again, God “gave” it to you, but this one also assumes that you *have* it to deal with on your own… If that were the case why would we need Him?
These quasi-Christian statements of “faith” drive me nuts!
Things do happen to us that we can’t control and would not have chose for ourselves, but we can still control our response to it.
