I have heard it said that God can’t bless you because of your sin. I can’t not disagree with that statement. Why the double-negative? Because of the perspective of it. God is not incapable of blessing me when I am drowning in sin. However, if I am at a low point and sin is front and center, I will see myself differently. In seeing myself differently, I will project my self-view onto God, convinced that is how He sees me. Now I have set myself up to reject and to be rejected. God is capable of blessing me when I allow blessings; when I am able to receive them. My self-perception is a much more powerful force against God’s blessings than my sin.
(I am also pretty sure that my definition of “sin” is different than what was being discussed as a blessing-blocker.)
