The Gospel, Page One

The Gospel (the ‘Good News’) does not start in your Bible with Matthew 1:1; It starts at Genesis 1:1. I will not go into my extensive views of creation right now, but I will say that I believe that more time transpired between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 than what I was taught in Sunday … Continue reading The Gospel, Page One

Digging Deeper…

I have a real problem with people taking a verse out of the Bible and misusing it to their own ends. (I’ll admit I have done this, sometimes unknowingly, and I am going to do my best to make sure that never happens again.) For example: 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NASB, below) is almost always taken … Continue reading Digging Deeper…

Freely You Have Received; Freely Give

I am able to admit when something in the Bible has me puzzled… Although, it is usually after I get clarification on it. (I could fill volumes with things that I just can’t wrap my mind around.) Anyway, my “ah-ha” moment of the day is found in Matthew 10:8 (NIV)Heal the sick, raise the dead, … Continue reading Freely You Have Received; Freely Give

A Pearl, Discovered

In one of Jesus’ shortest parables about the Kingdom, He speaks of a merchant who was looking for “choice pearls” (Matthew 13:45-46 NLT), and when he “discovered a pearl of great value” he sold all that he had so he could purchase it. This one always eluded me… See, I was always told to not put … Continue reading A Pearl, Discovered

Someone Needs To Hear This Today

Paul defines the Kingdom of Heaven as “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17 Whenever you see “Kingdom of Heaven” in scripture, replace it with the above definition… not the word Heaven. For far too long we have been told if you do *this* you cannot go to Heaven, but that … Continue reading Someone Needs To Hear This Today

Originally, the Gospel was not a message of saying a prayer so that you could go to Heaven instead of Hell. No, the original Gospel (Good News) message was one of hope, love, joy, peace, harmony, community, and abundant life - it was demonstrated and not just talked about. It was not about what you … Continue reading

Jesus is the Tree of Life, the True Vine. We are branches on that vine - as long as we are connected to Him, we bear Fruit. That fruit is not for ourselves, it’s for others. The Tree of Life is in the Garden, God’s garden. The Garden is inside the walls of Heaven… The … Continue reading

The Kingdom of God is not *just* Heaven, it is wherever those who occupy the territory have submitted themselves to God’s Kingship. Unlike kings who expand their territory by war, God’s Kingdom is expanded through love, righteousness, peace and joy.

You Can’t Hate Someone Into The Kingdom!

I just read an article (honestly, I couldn’t finish it) that was about why homosexuality is the worst sin (right now). I don’t get it. Is it listed in scripture as a sin? Of course it is! So is lying, cheating, lusting and being greedy. Surely, no one reading this can honestly say they have … Continue reading You Can’t Hate Someone Into The Kingdom!

Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you (self-righteous, finger-pointers) and given to a people who will produce its fruit. Matthew 21:43 (NIV)
